One year after the tragedy at the Gloria Elevator, lawyer Fernanda de Almeida Pinheiro commented on the status of the cases related to the accident, emphasizing that the State cannot replace the insurance company in the responsibility for indemnifying the victims. The insurance company has been covering the medical expenses, transfers, and funerals of the affected passengers.
However, the lawyer explained that the definitive closure of the cases depends on two essential factors: the medical discharge of the injured and the determination of permanent sequelae resulting from the accident. Until these conditions are met, the cases remain open.
The Gloria Elevator, one of Lisbon's historical monuments, suffered a serious accident that resulted in fatalities and injured. The families of the victims have resorted to legal action to obtain adequate compensation for the damages suffered.
