The writer and poet João Habitualmente is the guest at the September edition of Café Literário, which takes place this Friday, September 4, at 9:30 PM, at the Municipal Library of Paredes. The event is dedicated to conversation around literature and the work of the guest author.
Born in Porto in 1961 and resident in Gaia, João Habitualmente published his first poetry book in 1995, "Agradecemos/Os sons parados". His most recent work, "O mar à janela", reached bookstores in 2026. The author's literary production spans different genres, including poetry, short stories, microfiction, and diary, with titles such as "Um dia tudo isto será meu" (2019), "Os pulsos fistréticos" (2016), "Telhados de lume" (2023), and "Coisas do arco da ovelha", as well as microfiction works like "Notícias do pensamento desconexo" and "Delírio animal".
João Habitualmente regularly participates in literary initiatives, namely in the poetic cycle «Quintas de Leitura», of Teatro do Campo Alegre. In June of this year, he was part of the Babell literary festival as curator of the immersive poetry space «Cego Som». In 2023, he co-authored with photographer Eduardo Beira the work "algum/antologia Lugares primordiais com planalto e rio ao fundo".
In addition to his literary activity, João Habitualmente was a columnist for O Comércio do Porto and Público. He is a psychologist and professor at the University of Porto, having also published travel chronicles and press chronicles under the pen name Luís Fernandes.
