GNR alerts for scams with fake postal and banking services websites

Jornal Online3 September 2026 at 19:42

The GNR warned about the growth of a scam method that exploits citizens' trust in postal and banking services. Scammers create internet pages that imitate the websites of legitimate entities to lead victims into providing personal and financial information.

According to the Republican National Guard, the data collected through these fake pages can later be used in identity falsification schemes. The authority highlighted the "extremely high repercussions" of this type of fraud, which can cause not only financial losses but also the improper accumulation of personal data that feeds networks dedicated to identity falsification.

The significant growth of these scams is precisely due to the fact that they take advantage of the familiarity and trust that citizens place in postal and banking services.

Faced with unexpected contacts, GNR recommends that citizens be suspicious, confirm the authenticity of the communication through the official channels of the entity in question and avoid accessing suspicious links, not providing personal data without first verifying the legitimacy of the request.
