São Paulo Governor and re-election candidate Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos) stated that the response to criticisms from opponent Fernando Haddad of the PT will come "at the polls." The declaration was made during a campaign event at the North Rodoanel construction works, where Tarcísio observed the construction of section 2, between Fernão Dias Highway and Raimundo Pereira de Magalhães Avenue, with completion expected by the end of this year.
The privatization of Sabesp has been one of the main points of disagreement between the two campaigns. Haddad has questioned the current government's management, especially regarding increases in public service tariffs.
In response to the accusations about the tariff increase, Tarcísio claimed that the water bill is currently 15% below the value that, according to him, would be charged if the company remained under state control. The governor stated that the adjustments provided for in the contract merely followed inflation.
When questioned about being called a "liar" by the opponent, Tarcísio classified the campaign as being of "low level" and stated that he is focused on talking about the future, hope, and deliverables from his government.
