Over 20 million children were targeted for sexual abuse through the internet in 2025, revealing the alarming dimension of this global problem.
Most of these abuse situations, about 60%, happened on social media, with Facebook leading at 50% of cases, followed by WhatsApp with 29%, Instagram with 24%, Snapchat with 13% and TikTok with 12%.
Beyond social media, a significant portion of the abuse, about 14%, occurred on online gaming platforms, showing that these environments are also risk spaces for children.
