Medicinal cannabis producer "burned through" millions in Portugal and went bankrupt with nothing

Symtomax was a medicinal cannabis producer that had a former Infarmed president on its board of directors. The company intended to create Europe's largest medicinal cannabis cultivation center in Beja, an ambitious project that ultimately never materialized. The company never carried out any activity, having burned through millions of euros in Portugal.

Symtomax ended up going bankrupt without being able to meet its objectives. Its assets have now been auctioned, but for an extremely low value. The amount obtained in the auction was less than 4% of the value that the company owed the State alone, which highlights the scale of the financial losses involved in the project.
