The Civil Police of Espírito Santo investigate whether striker David Corrêa, a Vasco player, financed drug trafficking in Serra, in the Metropolitan Region of Vitória. The suspicions arose after the player's ex-agent, Édson Vander da Silva Júnior, was arrested under accusation of leading the drug trade in the region. On Edson's phone, seized during the investigations, messages exchanged with David were found that raised doubts about the athlete's possible involvement with organized crime.

The messages analyzed by police date from March 2024 and concern an attempted homicide that occurred during a dispute over drug trafficking control in Serra. On that occasion, a man was kidnapped and shot by members of a faction who suspected he was passing information to a rival group. The victim managed to escape and the suspects were arrested.

In one of the dialogues, David was informed about the attempted homicide and responded: "He deserved to get shot anyway". The player's comment reinforced police suspicions about his proximity to organized crime in the region.

Édson Vander da Silva Júnior, known as DVD, was David's agent and simultaneously acted as the drug trafficking boss in Serra. The discovery of the conversations on the ex-agent's phone initiated a new focus in the investigations, which now seek to confirm whether the Vasco striker financed the criminal activities in the Espírito Santo city.
