Health, security and combating online betting are among the main themes explored by candidates for the Senate in Rio de Janeiro in free electoral advertising. Bets were one of the most recurring topics among the aspirants to the position.

Carlos Jordy, from PL, dedicated most of his advertising to the topic of online betting, classifying it as a threat to families and children. Benedita da Silva, from PT, also exclusively addressed the subject and defended that the problem be treated as a public health issue.

Pedro Paulo, from PSD, included online betting among the issues he intends to defend in the Senate, alongside measures for people with autism and app workers. The candidates also bet on associating with well-known names in politics to try to win over voters.

Political scientist Geraldo Tadeu highlights that the tendency in electoral advertising is for candidates to speak about issues of national impact, as happened with bets.
