Hungary: end of emergency laws on migration could halt EU fines

Hungary and the European Union are negotiating to let two temporary laws on migration expire, maintaining only the border policy. The objective is to put an end to the daily fine of one million euros imposed by the EU on the country.

Brussels and Budapest are involved in this negotiation. The laws in question are temporary and deal with the migration issue.

Experts doubt that this measure will be sufficient to satisfy the requirements of European justice, even with the maintenance of the border policy.

The daily fine of one million euros was imposed by the EU on Hungary and continues to accumulate while the dispute is not resolved.
