Fire risk and seat belt failure: Jeep and RAM announce recall of 7.3 thousand cars in Brazil; see which models

Stellantis announced a recall of 7,300 vehicles of the RAM 1500 and Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and Wrangler models in Brazil. The manufacturer emphasizes that the identified defects can cause physical damage to occupants of the affected vehicles.

In the case of Jeep vehicles, 1,472 units manufactured between 2021 and 2025 should go to dealerships for replacement of the electro-hydraulic steering pump. The brand states that, in case of failure, the part can cause a fire hazard, which can cause potential material, physical, and even fatal damage to occupants and third parties.

The owners of the 5,810 RAM 1500 pickups manufactured between 2021 and 2026 affected by the recall should schedule the replacement of the rear seat belt attachment. The brand identified the possibility of error in the seat belt locking mechanism, and in extreme cases, the failure can cause the vehicle's occupants to not be restrained during hard braking and accidents, increasing the occurrence of material, physical, or even fatal damage.
