A 65-year-old man died today in Vila Maior, in the municipality of São Pedro do Sul, district of Viseu, as a result of a work accident while cleaning a well. According to the commander of the Public Salvation Firefighters of São Pedro do Sul, José Carlos Pereira, the victim was removing a stone when it fell on top of him.
The victim was from Figueiredo de Alva, also in the same municipality of São Pedro do Sul. The accident occurred while the man was working accompanied by his son.
The alert for the accident was given at 10:32. Twenty operatives supported by six vehicles were on scene, including resources from the Public Salvation Firefighters, the National Republican Guard and the National Institute of Medical Emergencies, as well as a helicopter.
