Benfica announced this Thursday the loan of central defender Joshua Wynder to New England Revolution, a club from the American MLS. The 21-year-old will represent the Boston team until the end of the season, thus returning to his home country three seasons after arriving at the Luz.
To finalize this operation, New England Revolution had to negotiate with Nashville SC, which held the priority of signing the player according to MLS rules. The Boston club paid approximately 50 thousand dollars, about 43 thousand euros, to secure that priority from Nashville.
Joshua Wynder arrived at Benfica in June 2023, coming from Louisville City, a club from his hometown in the state of Kentucky. During his time at the Luz, the defender played mainly for the Eagles' B team, disputing 37 games in the Portuguese II Liga, in which he scored six goals, also showing ability to contribute offensively. The central defender is 1.88 meters tall.
