NVIDIA acquires Hugging Face, AI models and tools platform, for 12.9 billion

NVIDIA announced the acquisition of Hugging Face, a platform known for making artificial intelligence models and tools available. The deal is valued at approximately 12.9 billion dollars, becoming one of the largest acquisitions in the technology sector.

According to Reuters, the agreement provides for the payment of approximately 11.9 billion dollars to Hugging Face investors. Additionally, up to one billion dollars in NVIDIA shares will be distributed to retain workers after the completion of the acquisition.

Hugging Face has become a reference in the open source AI ecosystem, offering a vast collection of models that can be used, modified, and shared by the developer community. The platform has millions of users and a large base of models trained for various tasks.

This acquisition reinforces NVIDIA's strategy to expand its presence in the artificial intelligence market, leveraging the popularity and infrastructure of Hugging Face to accelerate the development and distribution of AI technologies.
