The Brazilian company GOL Linhas Aéreas announced the addition of a fifth weekly frequency on the non-stop route between Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon. The new connection, departing on Tuesdays, enters operation starting November 24. The daytime flight will depart from Rio de Janeiro at 09:05 with arrival in Lisbon at 21:45, while the nighttime flight will depart from Lisbon at 23:35 with arrival in Rio at 06:35 the following day, local times.
The route will be inaugurated on September 16 with four weekly frequencies, representing the first connection in GOL's history between Brazil and Europe. This expansion consolidates the company's strategic plan for long-haul intercontinental flights, operated with twin-aisle Airbus A330 aircraft, with capacity for approximately 300 passengers.
Mateus Pongeluppi, GOL's Commercial Vice President, stated in a press release distributed in São Paulo and Lisbon that the inauguration of the new route marks the company's strategic entry into Europe and opens the way for its expansion on the continent, reinforcing connectivity between the two countries and expanding travel options for customers from Portugal and Brazil.
During the high season period in Brazil, between January 4 and February 7, 2027, flight schedules will be adjusted. Operations from Rio de Janeiro will depart at 21:35 with arrival in Lisbon at 10:15, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Flights will depart from Lisbon at 12:15 with landing in Rio at 19:15, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
