A 7-year-old boy suffered serious injuries following a hit-and-run accident on Rua General Humberto Delgado (Estrada de Arruda), in Bom Retiro, outskirts of Vila Franca de Xira. The accident occurred around 7:55 PM, near the Meu Super supermarket in the area. The child was struck by the vehicle and sustained injuries to the legs, arms, and face.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident without providing assistance to the victim, constituting a hit-and-run case. A female firefighter who was nearby quickly assisted the child, providing first aid before the emergency services arrived.
A team from the Vila Franca de Xira Fire Brigade went to the scene to continue assisting the child who had been run over. The severity of the injuries necessitated the intervention of emergency services to ensure the stabilization and subsequent transport of the victim.
