ChatGPT is experiencing global outages on Thursday afternoon, with users reporting difficulties accessing and using the service. OpenAI confirmed the existence of problems that are also affecting Codex, the company's tool focused on programming.
The technology company acknowledged the problem on its official page and stated that it had already applied a measure to mitigate the issue, monitoring the recovery of services. However, in an update published at 4:43 PM, OpenAI classified the incident as "identified" and indicated that services continue to show degraded performance.
According to the Downdetector portal, over 1,300 reports of outages were recorded in Portugal, with the first complaints appearing at 3:34 PM. In the United States, the problems began around 3:00 PM, with the peak of complaints recorded at 4:04 PM, totaling 38,922 reports of outages.
OpenAI has not yet revealed the source of the problem nor indicated when it expects services to return to normal operation.
