The operation resulted in the rescue of 40 workers who were subjected to conditions analogous to slavery in the interior of Piauí. The action was carried out by competent authorities and aimed to identify and combat labor irregularities in the region.
Among the rescued workers, several violations of basic labor rights were identified. The workers did not have access to the rights provided for in Brazilian labor legislation, which constitutes a situation of severe exploitation.
The conditions in the lodgings where the workers lived were precarious and inadequate. Likewise, the work fronts where they carried out their activities did not offer minimum conditions of safety and dignity.
Furthermore, the absence of adequate sanitary facilities at the site was confirmed. This lack of basic infrastructure represents another violation of the fundamental rights of the workers rescued during the operation.
