Three people were arrested in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, in a joint operation by the Civil and Military police, for collecting money from bicho lottery bets during rides on a transportation app. The agents were alerted after a passenger was prevented from leaving the vehicle during a ride and asked her boyfriend for help, who is a delegate.
The passenger's boyfriend is William Pena, head of the Antissequestro Delegation (DAS), who received the help request message on his cell phone. Upon realizing the situation, the delegate contacted the commander of the 18th BPM (Jacarepaguá), Colonel Marcos André.
The police teams set up a blockade in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The vehicle was intercepted on Avenida Geremário Dantas, near Pechincha, on a stretch close to the Linha Amarela exit. During the approach, the agents confirmed the illegal practice of collecting bicho lottery money during the rides.
