Three people were arrested in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday in an integrated action by the Civil and Military police. The arrested were caught collecting money from illegal animal lottery bets during app transportation rides.
The operation was launched after a passenger was prevented from leaving a car during a ride and called for help to her boyfriend, delegate William Pena, head of the Anti-Kidnapping Division (DAS). The help message was received on the delegate's cell phone.
He reported having contacted the commander of the 18th BPM (Jacarepaguá), colonel Marcos André, and teams set up a perimeter in the Southwest Zone of the capital. The vehicle was intercepted on Geremário Dantas Avenue, near Pechincha.
