One week after the floods of August 26, the authorities' toll continues to worsen, with the number of missing people rising to 5,600 and the dead to 1,280. The tragedy mainly affects Nepal, which is facing the consequences of devastating floods in the Himalayan region.

Among the missing are four Portuguese citizens. Three of them are lost in Nepal and one in Tibet, raising concerns among Portuguese authorities regarding nationals affected by this natural disaster.

The floods, which began on August 26, caused widespread destruction, with entire villages submerged and thousands of people forced to flee their homes. Rescue operations continue, but difficult conditions on the ground are complicating the efforts of emergency teams.
