The Parish of Ribeira Seca, in Machico, is preparing to celebrate the Feast of Nossa Senhora do Amparo on September 12 and 13, with a program that combines religious celebrations and community fellowship and entertainment initiatives.
The religious celebrations will be preceded by traditional novenas on September 8, 9 and 10, at 8:00 PM, held at various locations such as Poço Gil, Igreja, Pastel and Índia, Lombo do Xeque and Moinho da Serra.
On Saturday, September 12, the program includes fireworks at noon, collection of products around the neighborhoods at 4:00 PM, the Rosary prayer at 7:15 PM and the celebration of the Eucharist at 8:00 PM. The evening continues with Cantares da Ribeira at 9:30 PM and the performance of Álvaro Florença at 10:30 PM.
On Sunday, September 13, the procession from the chapel takes place at 4:30 PM and the Festival Mass at 5:00 PM, presided by Bishop D. José Dionísio Gouveia. The celebration continues with the performance of Grupo de Folclore de Machico at 7:00 PM and the group Monteral Bando at 8:00 PM. The parish community invites the faithful to participate in these moments of faith and devotion.
