Anthony Valencia and Joaquín Freitas were presented to the Flamengo fans at Maracanã and had their names registered with the CBF's BID, becoming eligible to make their debuts for the club. The two forwards were announced by Flamengo earlier in the week and have already had initial conversations with coach Leonardo Jardim.
After the 2-0 victory over Mirassol, which reduced Palmeiras' lead at the top of the Brasileirão to just one point, Jardim spoke to the press about the signings. The Portuguese coach committed to giving opportunities to the Ecuadorian and Argentine duo during the adaptation period.
Jardim stated that all players need to earn their place in the starting eleven, but guaranteed that there would be opportunities for the new athletes. The manager highlighted that they are young players in whom the club believes and that they will help Flamengo in the medium and long term.
The Portuguese stated he will do his best to provide good conditions for the players' progress, so that they have success both in the present and the future wearing the Flamengo shirt.
