The SNS 24 will now integrate nurses in the attendance and triage of calls referred to this service, in a change to the previously existing operating model. This change aims to reinforce the clinical evaluation of users who contact the health line.
The inclusion of nurses in SNS 24 comes as a way to optimize the available resources at the Centro de Orientação de Doentes Urgentes (CODU). With this measure, the aim is to ensure more rigorous triage and direct users to the most appropriate healthcare for their needs.
This reformulation of the attendance model is part of a broader strategy to reorganize health services, seeking to improve the efficiency and quality of the response given to citizens through the support lines of the National Health Service.
