ASAE inspected nine professional fishing vessels operating at sea in the Algarve region, in a joint operation with the Portuguese Navy and Maritime Police. The actions focused on the conditions of preparation, processing and packaging of fish on board. Licensing requirements, conservation and storage of products and hygiene were also verified. During the operation, hygiene failures were detected in two factory ships. The authorities did not specify what measures were taken regarding these vessels.
