Mondego metro connections between Lousã and Serpins, in Coimbra, were interrupted for seven months due to bad weather. The metrobus system faced problems on the slopes that compromised circulation.
After seven months of emergency works, the connections were finally resumed. The metro resumed operations between the two stations in an effort to restore service.
However, after the first 40 days of operation, the metrobus channel could not withstand the action of bad weather on the slopes. The structural problems reappeared, again compromising metro circulation.
The situation highlights the challenges faced by Mondego Metro's infrastructure, which continues to be vulnerable to adverse weather conditions in the Coimbra region.
