Copersucar, the global leading business ecosystem in sugar and ethanol trading, launched its Sustainability Report for Harvest 25/26. The report highlights the progress of ethanol's contribution to the decarbonization of land mobility.
The Copersucar Ecosystem's operations in Brazil and the United States reached a record in the volume of ethanol traded, avoiding the emission of 30 million tonnes of CO₂eq. This volume is comparable to the annual emissions of more than 14 million gasoline-powered vehicles.
As part of the renewable solutions agenda for new markets, Copersucar achieved an unprecedented milestone by enabling the use of ethanol in maritime transport. In July 2026, the first refueling of an ocean-going container ship with ethanol was carried out at the Port of Santos, in Brazil.
This achievement was the result of two years of joint work with partners from the maritime and port sectors, as well as authorities. The report demonstrates Copersucar's commitment to expanding the use of renewable energy across different modes of transportation.
