World footwear production stagnated in 2025, according to data from APICCAPS, the Portuguese sector association. This data contrasts with the position Portugal managed to maintain in the international landscape.
Portugal remained the world's 18th largest footwear producer, with a production of 74 million pairs in 2025. APICCAPS highlights that the country "maintained a relevant industrial position" despite the global context of stagnation.
The Portuguese footwear association emphasizes the importance of this position for the national industrial sector, which continues to have significant weight in the country's economy, even in a year when world production did not grow.
