ASAE carried out this Wednesday an inspection operation at sea, together with the Portuguese Navy and the Maritime Police, to inspect factory ships dedicated to fish processing.
The action resulted in the detection of failures related to non-compliance with hygiene requirements in fish products. Two administrative offense proceedings were initiated against the companies responsible for the inspected ships.
ASAE released the results of the operation this Thursday, highlighting the importance of inspecting hygiene conditions in the fish production chain, even in a maritime environment.
This operation falls within ASAE's food safety inspection responsibilities, also covering the processing and storage activities of food products carried out on board ships.
