Iran's Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, threatened the United States with severe oil shortages in the coming months, warning that "dark months await" the American economy. He stated that Americans should start thinking about stockpiling materials and equipment.
Aref wrote on social media that the "new crimes of the United States against the Iranian nation have changed our security equations and defense doctrine." According to him, from now on, the Iranian response will be "asymmetric," "multi-layered" and aims to "deprive the aggressor of security."
Donald Trump has already stated that the US does not depend on oil exports from the Strait of Hormuz, through which a large portion of the world's oil circulates. Traffic in the region has been practically paralyzed since the beginning of the conflict, in February.
In recent days, new military attacks in the region have caused global oil prices to soar to their highest levels in weeks, increasing international tension.
