It has been a year since a failure in the Ascensor da Glória turned a routine journey in central Lisbon into one of the darkest days of the capital. Over 50 seconds of pure panic, a cable rupture and the absolute ineffectiveness of the braking system left the carriage in uncontrolled descent until the violent impact against a building. The brutal crash caused total destruction of the vehicle and caused the death of 16 passengers.
