The Central Bank of Brazil is in negotiations to link PIX, Brazil's instant payment system, to the European payment system. The objective is to allow Brazilians to make payments directly from their bank accounts in Brazil when using card machines in Europe.
The European Central Bank reported that studies for this interconnection are still in the initial phase. There is still no definition on when the integration could be completed.
The connection between the two systems would allow Brazilian users to make purchases at European establishments using the balance of their bank accounts in Brazil, without the need for traditional international cards or manual transfer of funds.
