The environmental association Quercus warned that the incinerator planned for the Algarve is "unsuitable" to respond to the exhaustion of the region's landfills. The organization considers that this solution is not the most appropriate to solve the waste management problem in the Algarve.
Quercus asked the Minister of Environment and Energy to clarify which studies validate this incinerator in the region's waste management policy. The association wants to know which analyses support the choice of this infrastructure.
The request for clarification also includes information about the technical alternatives that were analyzed during the decision-making process, as well as the reasons that led to the discarding of these same alternatives. Quercus wants to understand why other options were rejected.
