Botafogo announced on Thursday that left-back Alex Telles suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh, confirmed by imaging exam. The team captain got injured in the first half of the derby against Flamengo last Sunday, in the Brasileirão, when he was substituted by center-back Lucas Monzón.
With the injury, Alex Telles will be sidelined only for the match against Palmeiras this Sunday, at Nilton Santos Stadium, in the Brasileirão. The prognosis is for a return for the match against RB Bragantino on the 12th.
During the derby against Flamengo, Botafogo was playing in a three-center-back formation, and Marçal started playing at left-back after Telles left the game. The player is expected to be kept in that position against Palmeiras.
Botafogo faces Palmeiras, the Brasileirão leader, without a win in four matches in the championship. The black-and-white team is in 12th place in the table, just five points above the relegation zone.
