A 34-year-old man, of British nationality, was arrested as a suspect for having murdered his partner, also British, on Tuesday, in the corridor of a hotel unit in Albufeira. The victim, 34 years old, was found dead at the scene after allegedly being stabbed by her partner.

The suspect was brought before the Portimão Court for the first judicial interrogation, where he was subject to preventive custody, the most severe coercive measure. He was subsequently referred to the Silves Prison Establishment, where he will await trial.

The crime reportedly occurred in the presence of a minor child, a girl. The GNR declined to reveal further details about the case, namely the child's fate, referring additional information to the Judicial Police, which is investigating the case, and to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
