The Ryanair Holdings group announced on September 3 its growing investment in training future aerospace maintenance engineers and technicians in Portugal. In a statement distributed in Dublin, the Irish commercial aviation group, which presents itself as Europe's leading carrier by number of passengers, highlighted the more than 10 partnerships and academic collaborations already established with universities, polytechnic institutes, professional schools, and Portuguese Part-147 training organizations.
These partnerships involve renowned institutions, including the University of Minho – School of Engineering, UBI – University of Beira Interior, Instituto Piaget, and IPCA – Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave. Since launching the first academic partnership in Portugal in 2024, Ryanair has significantly expanded its training network and has already received 38 Engineering interns in Portugal, with more expected for 2026.
Neal McMahon, Ryanair's Director of Operations, stated that the company is proud to play a leading role in developing the next generation of aerospace engineers in Portugal. The executive highlighted that, as the company grows to 800 aircraft and 300 million annual passengers, highly qualified and well-paid engineering job opportunities will be created. Ryanair continues to recruit for engineering roles in Portugal, including B1 Engineers, Mechanics, and Sheet Metal Workers.
