Thousands of Portuguese will have to make this registration within this deadline to receive their full salary: find out if you are covered

From the 2026/2027 school year, teachers in Portugal will have to register class summaries by the fifth working day of the following month. This obligation arises within the scope of the Application Certification Program for the School Ecosystem, managed by the Agency for the Management of the Education System (AGSE), which aims to update school management applications to cross pedagogical activity with administrative and salary information. After the deadline, the system classifies the registration as "late summary" and blocks normal submission, although school management can regularize the situation with a justification and audit record.

The link between summaries and remuneration was announced by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation in January. The new system crosses data such as the scheduled timetable, the teacher who taught the class, the summary, attendance and replacement or make-up situations. Rui Cardoso, director of the Agrupamento de Escolas do Viso in Viseu, explained that "the financial part will connect to the pedagogical part," with data being uploaded to the cloud for salary processing and automatic counting of overtime hours.

However, the article clarifies that non-compliance does not automatically suspend the base salary. The blocking mechanisms and regularization procedures provided by AGSE do not determine that base remuneration ceases to be paid automatically due to a missing registration. The financial consequences fall mainly on overtime hours, which can only be validated and paid when associated with a concrete class with a completed summary.

Without the summary, the overtime record remains isolated as an inconsistency and does not carry over to the month-end closing or to the payroll systems. In exceptional situations, such as prolonged technical impossibility, school management can manually validate the payment, with the decision recorded in the system. Non-compliance can thus delay the validation of salary components, especially overtime hours.
