Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stated on Thursday that the motion of censure presented by Chega against the Government fits a logic of "mere political game", making no sense whatsoever. Montenegro made these statements to journalists before attending the inauguration ceremony of the re-elected president of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova.
Chega presented the motion of censure due to the maintenance of Luís Neves in the position of Minister of Internal Administration. The Prime Minister announced that the Government is awaiting the definition of the day and time to present itself to the Assembly of the Republic and respond to the motion of censure, showing that it makes no sense and is not focused on solving people's problems.
Montenegro warned that the political responsibility of the opposition is also under evaluation. For the Prime Minister, the motion of censure is "a moment that democracy must approach with a sense of responsibility" by all protagonists, including the Government, which has the responsibility to govern, solve problems and find solutions for the matters that concern Portuguese people.
The Prime Minister also issued an indirect warning to the president of Chega, stating that oppositions will be all the more capable of presenting themselves as alternatives if they show a sense of responsibility, as no one wants to see ruling a country partisan forces that do not place the interest of all above particular interests.
