PSD-M stated yesterday it values organized grazing

Funchal Notícias3 September 2026 at 15:35

PSD-M (PSD of Madeira) deputies carried out yesterday a field initiative, visiting a mountain area where a local association is responsible for managing and monitoring a flock. This visit is part of a party action to learn more about activities related to the agricultural and pastoral sector in the region.

During the visit, PSD-M deputies affirmed their appreciation of organized grazing as an important practice for the region. The visited association is responsible for managing and monitoring a flock in a mountain area of Madeira.

The party highlighted that organized grazing can contribute in three main areas: in the cleaning and maintenance of land, in animal welfare and in the protection of the island's natural heritage. These three dimensions were highlighted as fundamental by the deputies during the initiative.

The PSD-M action in the field aims to demonstrate the importance the party attributes to these traditional practices, recognizing their value both for land management and for environmental preservation and animal welfare in the autonomous region of Madeira.
