The two young women who appear in the sexual content videos that led Raúl Asencio, a Real Madrid defender, and three former players from the club's youth academy to formal trial formalized their forgiveness to the four defendants before Spanish justice on Thursday. The decision allowed the charges against Asencio for sharing intimate images without consent to be dropped. The trial takes place at Criminal Court No. 5 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
In addition to Asencio, Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez and Andrés García are defendants, who played in Real Madrid's youth academy at the time of the events. The forgiveness, however, does not end the entire process. Ruiz, Rodríguez and García continue facing charges related to child pornography, as one of the young women who appears in the recordings was 16 years old at the time of the events, in 2023. Asencio does not face this charge.
In this type of accusation, the victim's forgiveness does not extinguish criminal liability. After hearing the two young women about the forgiveness, the judge responsible for the case proceeded with the trial procedures.
