The public exchange of accusations between Luana Piovani and Pedro Scooby about lice on their children transformed a common problem among children into one of the most discussed topics on social media. At the center of the discussion is a question raised by the surfer: after all, what are nits and how do they turn into lice?
The controversy began after Luana posted images and reports about the presence of parasites on her daughter Liz's head, age 10, and injuries on her son Bem's leg. Scooby responded saying the girl would have arrived in Brazil already with the problem and, later, stated: "The louse is born from the nit."
The statement is related to the life cycle of the parasite. Nits are the eggs of the louse and are usually stuck to the hair strands, close to the scalp. After some time, the nits develop and give rise to lice, continuing the infestation cycle.
