Public offices in the city of Rio de Janeiro and the state of Rio de Janeiro will close early this Friday, the first day of Rock in Rio shows. Decrees signed by Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere and Acting Governor Ricardo Couto were published in the Official Gazettes released on Thursday, authorizing the release of public servants starting at 3 PM.
The measure does not apply to essential services such as health, transportation, and other activities that cannot be halted. As the mayor himself explained on social media, the goal is to improve circulation and traffic flow throughout the city during the event.
The mayor also stated that the city government will do the same as was done in 2024, and that the action was taken in coordination with Governor Ricardo Couto. The city and state government offices in Rio will operate from 8 AM to 3 PM on that date.
The city government emphasizes that the measure does not constitute an optional day off, meaning the offices will operate normally throughout the day and will only close three hours earlier than the usual time.
