Honey production this year faced significant difficulties due to adverse weather conditions. A harsh winter and a hot summer negatively affected bee activity, resulting in production below expectations. Extreme temperature variations compromised the swarms' work and honey production capacity.
The Espinhal region once again asserted itself as the main honey sales center, maintaining its traditional role in this activity. However, local producers faced obstacles that limited the amount of honey available for commercialization.
In addition to the weather problems, the "visit" of Asian wasps once again represented a threat to production. The presence of these invasive insects harms bee colonies, creating additional difficulties for beekeepers trying to maintain the productivity of their apiaries.
