Teenager detained suspected of torturing more than 200 cats in Discord livestreams

A 15-year-old teenager was detained in São Luís, Maranhão, on Wednesday (2), suspected of torturing more than 200 cats in livestreams on digital platforms, specifically on Discord. According to delegate Lisandrea Salvariego, coordinator of the Digital Observation and Analysis Unit (Noad), from the São Paulo Public Security Department (SSP-SP), the young person tortured five to six animals in a single night. The teenager is also accused of inducing victims to self-harm.

The monitoring carried out by Noad lasted six months and led to the location of the young person in São Luís. After the detention, he will be transferred to the São Paulo capital, where he is expected to serve a detention measure. The operation represents an effort by authorities to combat zoophilia crimes and digital crimes involving violence against animals.
