The Administrative Court refused the precautionary measure filed by José Sócrates within the scope of Operation Marquês. The decision means that the court did not suspend any administrative act at the request of the former prime minister.

The court also accepted the appointment of an official lawyer to represent Sócrates in the proceedings. This happened because, apparently, the defendant had not appointed a defense lawyer within the legally established deadline.

The General Council of the Bar Association was also mentioned in the proceedings. The court rejected the thesis that this entity would not have jurisdiction to appoint an official lawyer for a trial.

Operation Marquês is a judicial process investigating suspicions of corruption involving José Sócrates. The case includes accusations related to alleged economic and financial crimes committed during his term as prime minister.
