The University of Coimbra is using Artificial Intelligence to combat Alzheimer's disease, through the TILT-Tau project. A team of researchers from this project is designing molecules with the objective of restricting the spread of a toxic protein between neurons.
The strategy developed by this team is considered pioneering in the field. By using Artificial Intelligence in the process of creating molecules, researchers can significantly accelerate the research work.
This method promises to substantially shorten the years of clinical trials that would normally be necessary until the creation of a new drug for Alzheimer's. The project thus represents an innovative approach that could revolutionize the development of therapies for this neurodegenerative disease.
