Terrorist organization no longer going to Avante! "Did not meet conditions"

Magazine SÁBADO reported that the PCP had invited a Palestinian group classified as a terrorist organization by the European Union to participate in the Avante! festival, the traditional annual event of the Portuguese Communist Party. The invitation generated controversy and public debate in Portugal.

Following the publication of this news, the PCP issued an official statement to clarify the situation. In the document, the party informed that the organization in question will after all not participate in the event.

The statement said that the organization did not meet the necessary conditions to be present at Avante!. This decision comes following the media and political pressure that followed the revelation of the invitation.
