After the rural fire of August 2024, the Madeira Government decided to acquire high-precision tools to better manage and monitor the forest areas of the region.
The main acquisition was professional drones, which allow performing mappings of forest zones with levels of detail previously unattainable with other methods.
The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation was the entity responsible for announcing this initiative and the objectives of using this technology.
This measure comes as a response to the damage caused by the August 2024 fire, seeking to improve the capacity for monitoring and conservation of Madeira's forests.
