A new law was approved in Portugal that changes the TVDE (Transport in Undisguised Vehicles) regime, covering platforms such as Uber and Bolt. The consumer defence organization DECO, through its Consumer Advisory Service, analyzed the main changes introduced by this legislation.
According to DECO, the new law brings some positive aspects to the sector. However, the organization considers that the changes do not address the main consumer complaints, suggesting that significant problems for users remain unresolved.
DECO also warns that the legislative changes may put at risk the public taxi service. This concern arises in a context of competition between the two transport models, where regulation can affect market balance.
