Miguel Oliveira has renewed his contract with BMW and will continue to represent the German manufacturer in the Superbike World Championship in 2027 and subsequent seasons. The 31-year-old Portuguese rider will thus complete his second season aboard the BMW M 1000 RR, joining the official ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team, after making his debut in the championship in 2026 following seven seasons in MotoGP.
In his debut season in the Superbike World Championship, Oliveira has so far accumulated four podiums, three of which were achieved at the round held at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão. The Portuguese rider subsequently missed two rounds, in May and June, due to a serious shoulder injury sustained in a crash at the Balaton Park circuit in Hungary. Since then, he has been working with the team on his physical recovery and return to the podiums.
The head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Sven Blusch, highlighted the Portuguese rider's quick adaptation to the new championship and stated he was pleased to extend the partnership. "He adapted very quickly to our Superbike project and became an important part of the team, on and off the track," Blusch said, acknowledging that the injury was a setback but expressing confidence that they can achieve great things together.
Miguel Oliveira currently sits in 10th place in the Superbike World Championship with 106 points after eight races. The next round, the ninth of 12 scheduled, takes place this weekend in France at the Magny Cours circuit, where Italian Nicolo Bulega (Ducati) leads the championship with 491 points.
