Gabriel Mec reinforces FC Porto for €11M but misses Champions League

Dia de Jogo — jornal desportivo3 September 2026 at 13:06

FC Porto signed 18-year-old Brazilian winger Gabriel Mec in a permanent transfer from Grêmio. The young player cost the dragons 11 million euros, plus an additional one million in bonuses, and signed a contract until 2031.

Gabriel Mec will strengthen the Porto attack but will not be able to participate in the Champions League. The Brazilian was not included in the European list submitted by the club for the competition, thus being prevented from playing in the UEFA's main club competition.

This transfer represents a significant investment by FC Porto in a young Brazilian talent, following the club's tradition of signing South American players. However, the inability to include him in the Champions League may represent an obstacle to his immediate use in international competitions.
